It has been a rather trying month for us. On March 20 I got the news that I was going to be layed off from the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. The school was gracious enough to give us ten weeks notice.

I spent three weeks looking for a new position and I am happy to say I will be starting in May at Foremost Farms in Baraboo Wisconsin. Foremost Farm is a dairy cooperative that makes award winning cheese and dairy products. The cooperative is owned by the farmers who produce the milk. Foremost doesn't directly sell to consumers, but being one of the largest diary cooperatives means you probably have some of their products.

So about Baraboo, it is 40 miles north of our house in Madtown. It is most famous for being the home of The Ringling Brothers Circus and the Circus World Museum. The other things nearby are the Wisconsin Dells and Devil's Lake. Despite it being a more rural settting there is lots to see and do nearby.

All this is going on while Kim is pregnant with twins and caring for a (almost) two year old! Again on the plus side is that we currently have a two bedroom house with soon to be five people living in it. We were bound to be moving sooner or later! Houses in Sauk County are less expensive than Dane County so our hope is to find a new home for about the same price with more bedrooms in it. It will be nice to have a place for people to stay when they come visit.

Featus Day is Thursday. That's when the twins will go from being embryos to being fetuses. That's good news because a good portion if their development will be done. It means a few things will be easier on Kim.

Here's a video of them. It is very short, don't blink.
We got new doors downstairs, it seems to be making the house warmer. I doubt that they will ever pay for themselves in terms of heating/cooling but they look much nicer.

The caddy has been giving us more problems, we need to replace it with a minivan before the twins arrive. I hate the idea of car payments but it is seemingly unavoidable.

Second entry in two days. I got the photo gallery up and running again, all fancy and updated.
We went and had an ultrasound at our OB's. They have a 3D machine on-site so that will be great (for later).

So what you really probably came to see was the ultrasound pictures.

I haven't been paying attention to the blog and I let it get hacked from not doing updates. Then I had to change my password, which I promptly forgot. And of course I didn't bother putting it in keepass.

Some pretty serious stuff has happened. I left InterVarsity in September 2011 after very nearly 10 years. I started working at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Medicine and Public Health's Department Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Under the department is the Fundus Photograph Reading Center and I am a part of Information Service's Software Development.

In December we went on a cruise down the Western Caribbean leaving from Galveston.

In January we found out we are having twins. They are due in September. There should be pictures forthcoming.

Mom and grandma flew into Milwaukee the Saturday before Christopher's birthday. We went to Edwardo's for pizza on the way back to Madison. That night we went to Stoughton to see the Syttende Mai play at the Village Players. It was great.

John, Jenny, Hailey and Joey came to Madison on the Sunday before Christopher's birthday. We grilled some stuff and hung out, we had a great time with them.

Monday I went into work for an hour long meeting, then I had the rest of the week off. Kim's parents flew into Madison and then we went out to eat.

Wednesday on Christopher's first birthday we had a bunch of people come over and help us celebrate. The kids enjoyed helping Christopher open presents, we grilled some more food, watched Christopher make a huge mess of the cake. Interestingly he was more interested in the cake than the frosting. We will need to post pictures of the cake, it was a Cat in the Hat cake, the cake looked just like the hat. Kim and her dad even put the proper bend to it, it was pretty amazing. The kids all had kazoos, I don't think the adults appreciated them, but the kids enjoyed them. Christopher has since figured out how to do it. I think he was a little overwhelmed by the number of people we had in our little house.

Mostly we hung out and played cards or Phase 10 or the like. Saturday Kim took mom and grandma back to the airport in Milwaukee because I wasn't feeling well.

I guess I never posted a Christmas blog.

We left for Sherman right after work and drove to Springfield Illinois. Christopher slept pretty much the entire way. I have to remember not to buy gas in Illinois if I can help it. We made it down to Muskogee Oklahoma the second day. We had thought about going all the way to Sherman, but we were just to tired to try. We went through Illinois and Missouri to avoid bad weather in the quicker route through Iowa.

Kim's parents arrived minutes before us and my aunt and grandma arrived about an hour later. We set up the Christmas tree. Tori drove up from Garland and she brought a Wii she won from work as well as her dog Cebu. We went to church on Christmas Eve, to a different church than the one they are attending now (fife months later I am finishing this entry).

We opened a bunch of gifts, Christopher had lots of toys. It was a lot colder in Sherman than I would have thought.

Karl, dad and I dug a trench through the road out to the barn. We put in a drainage pipe so the road doesn't get as washed out.

Kim and Christopher went back on Jan 1 to Anthony with Kim's parents. If they had gone back with me we'd all had to leave on the 2nd so I could have dropped them off in Madtown and then I would have had to take the bus back to Saint Louis. As it was I got to spend three extra days in Sherman with mom, dad and grandma.

Took me a bit to figure out the bike trailer, but it works wonderfully. I have been looking forward to taking Christopher on a bike ride since before he was born. He feel asleep sucking on his giraffe and making it squeak.
The doctor says we should wait just a bit before we take Christopher out on trips in it. The trailers can be kinda bouncy.

His 9 month appointment went well. He is up to 50% for height and 4% for weight. 4% for weight is actually him catching up a bit since he didn't start on the charts. The 9 month evaluation didn't show any problems either.
Kim posted this to YouTube. Thought you might enjoy. If you haven't seen a video of him in the last week or two you might notice that he is sitting up. It is really fascinating to me that when he decides to do something he just starts doing it. He was sitting up if I helped him, then he was sitting up if I balanced him, then he was sitting up by himself.

The good news is that it is going to warm up this weekend.

The bad news is that the reason it is going to warm up this weekend is so that it can snow.

We made it safely to Omaha where we are spending the night before finishing the rest of the trip. Peanut has been wonderful at traveling. He is actually enjoying much of the trip. He is sleeping most of the car ride. That might be making it difficult for him to sleep at night. We will have to get him back on a regular schedule when we get the rest of the way home.

Peanuts feedings have been going well. He has been eating more of the food. He is pretty happy about it, especially since it is just rice cereal. We were a little concerned after the first feeding because he didn't sleep well. Last night went better, comming out to Kim's aunt's house has upset his routine somewhat since the car ride was a little long for him.
