We've been watching the Olympics quiet a bit this year, especially ice hockey. The American women were undefeated going into the game against Canada for the gold medal. Canada won, so we got silver. The American men played Finland today, winning 6-1. If the Canadian men win tonight then we will play them for gold also. We beat Canada already once, hopefully we can do it again.

Kim reached 24 weeks on Wednesday. Peanut's kicking gets stronger everyday.

We had our February checkup (23 weeks) with the OB today. The heartbeat is good, the size of Kim's belly is good, the ultrasound didn't find anything wrong. The ultrasound doctor had said that the placenta was a bit low, but it wasn't in the way so that was no big deal. The OB said it was stupid for him to have even mentioned it.
So we fired off a bunch of questions at the OB and he answered them as quickly as possible. We have another appointment at the very end of March, and another ultrasound.

As for Peanut, he decided to sleep sideways last night, giving Kim the opportunity to learn to be awake in the middle of the night. He is pretty willing to move if you start touching him, at least if I do it. Poor Kim, she can't sleep on her back or her tummy, nor her left side because it causes her hand to fall asleep. That leaves only sleeping on her right side all the time.

(By the way don't Google placenta).

For the last week or so we've been able to tell Peanut is moving around inside of Kim. There would be a foot or a head or something pushing out and it would disappear after touching it for a moment. The last day or two I've actually felt him kick, it feels like little tiny tapping going on, and it is clearly getting stronger. It is weird to think he could be born in as little as 15 weeks.

The Winter Olympics start tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing some Olympic Hockey.

This weekend is Valentine's Day. I think we are going to go get some German food, cause nothing says love like a plateful of kraut! (I think I am drooling a little bit).

Now that we know Peanut is a boy we have been putting some more effort into finding him a name. I've been told that Peanut will only work until he's preschool age and he may have something to say about that even before then. So we have been looking in the normal places, SSA has lists of the most popular names for 2008. We have a book, a magazine, and another website we have also been looking at.

I think we've got a top 25 list of boy's names. I like names that are not girlie without being over the top (like Bruno). Kim seems to be favoring something a little longer, to balance the one syllable-ness of our last name. It was easier picking a girl's name, we have had a girl's name picked for awhile, one that hopefully someday we'll still get to use!

We went to the hospital today for our 20 week Ultrasound.




We are having a boy! The doctor didn't find anything wrong so all is going well, I was especially happy to hear there aren't any signs of Down Syndrome. Thanks for your continued prayers.

The ultrasound took about an hour, Kim's belly was covered in ultrasound goop, and eventually she got tired of the doctor and tech rubbing her belly. Still it took a couple of hours to wipe the grins off our faces. Peanut was doing his leg exercises at the time, fully kicking the entire time. The tech said that she might need to ask for overtime.

By the way, I think we debunked the "Ring Test".
